Putin confirmed to the Bolivarian leader that the strategic partnership treaty between the two countries is ready and reiterated his invitation to visit Moscow for its signing.
“I am pleased to note that the agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation has already been fully agreed upon. It will create a good and solid foundation for expanding our multifaceted ties in the long term,” said the Kremlin leader.
Putin also indicated that he would like the Venezuelan president to participate in the celebrations of Victory Day over Nazi Germany on May 9 in Moscow.
“Together, we strive to create a more just world order, promote the principles of sovereign equality of states, and mutually beneficial cooperation without external interference in internal affairs,” the Russian leader said, adding that further strengthening the Russian-Venezuelan strategic partnership in all areas serves the interests of both peoples.
In one of the most emotional parts of the conversation, Putin recalled that Venezuelan independence hero Francisco de Miranda and Bolivarian Revolution leader Hugo Chavez visited Russia at different historical moments, demonstrating the close ties of friendship between the two peoples.
For his part, President Maduro asserted that Moscow and Caracas share a shared strategic vision of the world and the need to build intenational relations based on mutual respect.
The Bolivarian leader also stated that he has given instructions for the organization of commemorations in Venezuela on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, which will include the unveiling of a monument to the Red Army.
“We have reached maturity in our relations and are united to advance toward new horizons,” Maduro stressed, highlighting the imminent emergence of a pluricentric world and the importance of fostering equality and cooperation among countries.
“We are building a world where peace and cooperation are the essence of our interactions, because only in this way will we achieve fair and equitable development,” the Bolivarian leader concluded.
